Bobette Jamison-Harrison is a native Californian and grew up in the Los Angeles area. Her love for singing began as a child. As early as the age of 3, she made a habit of pushing her mom down into a chair so that she could get her undivided attention. She wanted mom to be her only audience participant. You see, Bobette would not sing before anyone else. At the age of 7, she sang in the True Light Missionary Baptist Church choir. As long she wasn't asked to lead any songs, she was fine. Her favorite singer of all times was Aretha Franklin. Bobette would often be found sitting in the family room playing Aretha's songs and singing every word - note for note. Though she was young, she often found herself in tears because of the way in which Aretha's vocal delivery impacted her. She could never explain just what it was about Aretha's voice that moved her, but she knew whatever it was, it was powerful. In addition to Aretha Franklin, Bobette also loved the vocal styles of Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight. Nancy Wilson and Sarah Vaughn. Take all six of these singers and combine them in a soulful mellifluous mix and you'll have Bobette! Throughout her childhood and teenage years in school, she participated in theater arts, gospel ensembles and choirs refining her musical abilities. Her dream was to become a motivating force in the entertainment industry. Upon graduation from George Washington High School with numerous honors and awards in the aesthetics, she enrolled in college. Though her musical talents were God-given, she underwent formal training in the music field at Los Angeles Harbor College, majoring in music, with special emphasis in voice and piano. Upon graduating with honors at the top of her class, she transferred to the University of Southern California to further her studies. Bobette also took private lessons to ensure that she would be capable of reaching her fullest potential in the vocal arena. Bobette's professional singing career started at the age of 18 where she performed on her first AFTRA session. Luckily, that studio session enabled her to meet her lifetime musical mentor, Maxi Anderson, who opened other doors for her in the recording industry. In addition, Maxi took Bobette under her wings and taught her the "ins and outs" of the music industry. Since then, Bobette has become well known in the music industry as a lead and background vocalist, co-producer, vocal arranger, vocal contractor, songwriter and vocal technique clinician. She has numerous commercial, film, and television credits, and has recorded with many well known artists. See http://www.ArtistDirect.Com for a partial listing.
